The part people get wrong

Watch for double o. Often misspelled as soom or soonn.

Same family: as-soon-as, soonest, later, shortly, immediately. If you can spell one, the shared part carries to the others.

Where it comes from: Soon comes from an Old English word meaning “immediately, at once,” and over time its meaning shifted to “in the near future.” It is related to old Germanic words that also described something happening quickly or eagerly.
