How to spell result
What it means: The outcome or consequence of an action.
In a sentence: The result of mixing red and blue is purple.
The part people get wrong
Often misspelled as resault or rezult.
Same family: results, resulted, resulting, resultant, outcome. If you can spell one, the shared part carries to the others.
Where it comes from: “Result” comes from Latin *resultare*, meaning “to spring back” or “to rebound.” Over time, English shifted the idea from something bouncing back to the idea of what comes out or follows after an action—the result.
